I am interested in applying to the Trial Unit in the SEC's Enforcement Division. Could someone explain the hiring process to me? I am new to applying to government jobs, and I see postings for SEC but not the Trial Unit. Any insight on how to go about this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Any openings will be posted on USAJobs.
..and then steadily ignored/left to sit while the government figures out what the hell its doing. I was found "qualified" for a few jobs last week. Hoping to see things move along, but with this shutdown I expect things to stagnate for a long while. |
Not sure what agency you're waiting on, but hiring has continued on track at the SEC. Numerous offers were made in the last two weeks.
And the USAJOBS postings will be designated trial unit?
The position is called "Trial Attorney."
Is there any point of applying to these if I have no securities experience?
They have in the past hired people with significant trial experience but limited securities law experience. Recently though it's become even more competitive because of the number of DOJ attorneys trying to get out because of pay freezes and furloughs and the number of BigLaw partners getting nudged out of their firms. Everybody applies for this job because it's well known to be one of the highest paying government attorney jobs.
Does anyone have a sense of whether there are any vacancies?
