Anyone still disgusted about penn state football and how the admin and coaches covered up the rape of young boys? Now the NCAA is giving back more scholarships to the school. Everytime I watch them on tv or hear about them I get disgusted. I know the current staff and players have nothing to do with it but I think they should've banned football for several years. Fines. post season bans, and taking away some of Paternos wins just doesn't seem enough. Or ban the football program forever.
How do you morally forgive a school for such crimes? I know it was only a handful responsible but pretty horrific. The victims should be what's important not football. |

Psu alum that agrees with you entirely. If it was up to me I would have dismantled the program forever or at the very least converted it to d3.
However when u meet a psu alum, in a social or professional basis, please don't hold it against us that we went there. Not all of us agree with the administration or the majority of fans |
| I work with someone who is an alum and we both are big football fans. But ever since the scandal hit, the psu chatter just isn't the same anymore for me. Moving forward, you still can't help feeling a little disgusted about what had transpired. |
| I am a Maryland alum who has followed the case closely and I just wonder how you draw the conclusions that you claim. You say, "the admin and coaches covered up the rape of young boys." Really? The 1998 situation was investigated by the District Attorney and the case was dropped for lack of evidence to convict. And, the mother of that boy never claimed he was raped or sexually assaulted. Furthermore, the boy (now adult) involved in the 2001 situation reported by the Grad Assistant claims that nothing happened in the shower that night and the jury, after listening to testimony, found Sandusky not guilty of that specific charge. This is not to say that Sandusky is not guilty of sexual assualt; but to claim that the "admin and coaches covered up the rape of young boys" is so far over the top that I wonder what evidence you are drawing that from. Hopefully, we will learn more of the real details of the degree to which Spanier, Curly, and Shultz were complicit during their trials. But, at this point in time, you cannot make any assertion that they covered up the rape of young boys? And, it is inflammatory slander to do so. |
| The same way you forgive a country for crimes it's government committed, or people in the military for Abu Ghraib. Horrible, horrible things happened, and the people involved are either dead, in jail, or fired and about to be prosecuted. Killing the football rogram would hurt a lot more innocent people and make it harder for the university to afford to make restitution to the victims. |
| Thank you Maryland alum. I have seen that most people who make the statements in the original post are grossly uninformed of the current facts of the case. They typically only know what has been fed to them by the media, and don't care enough to actually read the truth thus far, Yet they seem to care enough to put their ignorant 2 cents in as anonymous. M names Brian. And proud to be PSU Alum. We Are!!!! |
+ 1 (another PSU alum) |
Do you not believe the Freeh report? Why do you think the facts are different compared to what was reported there? What credible source do you have that the Freeh report does not contain accurate facts? |
| There was evidence that supports the claim of a coverup: emails, witnesses, and a year long investigation among other things. Face it- they knew about it and didn't do anything there's really no denying that. |
| PSU football should have gotten the death penalty |
| "Current facts"? Do tell. |
First of all several top administrators at PS were indicted for lying under oath about their actions, if true, thats pretty much the definition of a cover up. If you read the report of the investigation A committee appointed by the replacement President and headed by the former head of the FBI) it recounted numerous occasions when sexual assaults were either witnessed or discussed by administration and coaches. Its not inflammatory slander to accuse people of doing what they've been formally accused of doing by a grand jury. God love you for being a true believer but dial it down some. With all the evidence thats out there you really can't truly be outraged that most people reached this conclusion. |
