Any help from Fertility Diet?

Anonymous
Hi all, I know that this topic has been discussed in the past, but I'm curious if anyone has had any recent success or seen any benefit from the Fertility Diet (or something similar)?

I've just failed my second IUI and will be doing one more before moving to IVF either late this year or next year. I'm admittedly feeling discouraged and trying to think of ways to improve my chances--even if it's something of a long shot. My current diet isn't bad, but there is definitely room for improvement (i.e. cutting out all sugar, less meat, more veggies, etc). Also going to cut out alcohol entirely (already cut back significantly, but still was having a few drinks each week) and black tea.

My concern is: I'm actually a bit underweight, so really should gain around five pounds to be closer to optimal BMI for getting pregnant. My husband is wondering if making these dietary changes might work against that. Also, from what I've read, the fertility diet is aimed primarily for those having issues with ovulation. My issues aren't related to ovulation, so not sure if diet changes would be for nothing...

This comment is not really related to the fertility diet, but I will say that IUIs only slightly increase your chances from regular timed intercourse. I had 5 IUIs with no luck. The first and second times that I had the IUI done I was shocked to learn that they hadn't worked because the doctors/nurses appeared hopeful. After number 4 I pretty much assumed it would not work and I have now moved on to IVF.

I have begun the fertility diet but no success yet to report. It's not hard and it can't hurt.
