Fire ants!

Anonymous
I was bitten by a few fire ants yesterday on the top of my foot. The reaction was terrible! Full body hives and in some places the clusters of them were so thick my skin looked bubbled, swollen inner ear canals to the point that my hearing was muffled..not fun! Benedryl and a LONG nap helped, but today I'm just dealing w/ the actual site of the bites. They've hardened and have a white point which I read is normal but my foot is HUGE! None of my shoes fit today. And the itch..YIKES. Can someone give me any advice on how to help with the itchiness and swelling? Should I stick with Benedryl or is there something else I'm not aware of? It was my first fire ant experience.

YIKES! You can try a paste of baking soda and water directly on the bites to lessen the itch. If the hives don't resolve with benadryl, you might consider a trip to the doc for a short course of prednisone.

Yep they itch and feel great when you itch. Try soaking in Epsom salt

Tried both baking soda paste AND epsom soak today and both helped relieve the itch immensely! Thanks so much to you both!
