decent crock pot recipes under 3-4 hours

I love the crock pot but some days I just can't get my stuff together in time for an '8 hours on low' recipe...

Do you have any tried and true recipes that take 3-4 hours.. something I can get together in the afternoon during naptime that's ready by 6p? I know a lot of things say cook on low 8 hours or high for 4 hours.. but it always seems to recommend the low version. Have you tried anything that specifically recommends a quicker time, or something that does taste good on the higher heat/shorter time?

For example, this... http://www.skinnytaste.com/2013/04/easiest-crock-pot-salsa-verde-chicken.html

2 hours on high, delish.

Thanks!

I do all of the prep work the night before and pop the insert into the crockpot in the morning.

Browse through the Net and cookbooks at the Library for recipes that take less time.

A pressure cooker might be better for your purposes.

They taste fine on the higher heat/shorter time. They just focus on the longer time because that's why most people use crock pots.

I would try looking at braising recipes. This one's pretty straight forward and most of the cooking time is in the oven:

I'm a vegetarian, and love throwing meals in the crockpot during nap time! Most of my recipes only need to be in for 4 hours or so-- so maybe look at some veggie crockpot books?

I set crock pot up to cook overnight let things cool in the awhile I get ready and pop in the fridge before I leave. Fat settles on top for easy skimming and I just heat when I get home.
I was finding that during the day it cooked too long

+1 I love my pressure cooker! I had no idea how much I'd use it. The crock pot doesn't get as much use anymore.

I made a black bean pumpkin soup for dinner last night. Googled a recipe. Delish and quick in the crockpot.

I started doing this too last year. You can skim the fat and the flavors meld because it had been sitting longer!
