Can I eat cured meats?

Can I eat things like jamon serrano and chorizo sausage while I pregnant, or do these fall in the same category as deli meats?
Thanks!

I ate them and never thought twice about it. I never heard that they were to be avoided.

Are you cooking them? If they aren't raw of course you can eat them.

Check with your OB - I am assuming that these are like any deli meats, smoked fish, etc. witch can't be eaten unless heated to steaming. No deli meats are "raw" - they are all cooked or cured.

My understanding is the problem with deli meats, smoked fish, pate, etc. is actually the deli counter, which can be at risk for listeria. I've read that if you buy these things wrapped (like the deli meats shrink wrapped in a package) that they are not risky.

MY OB said deli meats are fine - I've eaten my fair share of them, and the ham/sausage type things you mention. Ask your dr. and then balance what he/she says with feels right to you (and perhaps your husband/partner).
