| Who makes the best cheap cupcakes? Is yummy and pretty possible? I'm open to locations in DC and close-in NOVA. I'm hosting a party and will need about 60 cupcakes. I'm hoping to spend $1.75 or less per cupcake. If you have a suggestion, let me know. Thanks in advance! |
| Giant! They have dozens of flavors and charge 99cents per cupcake. I'm serious-go get a variety (I loved the French toast-with bacon crumbles on top-, key lime, Boston creme, and peanut butter). I served them for a party recently and people loved them! |
| Can you make them yourself from a box mix. Otherwise look at costco |
Costco cupcakes are tasty but huge. |
| Harris Teeter makes good ones. |
| The bakery at the end of Eastern Market makes delicious cupcakes! They range from 1.25-2.50ish each. Lots of choices, and you can mix and match yourself. |
| Whole Foods has tasty 2 bite cupcakes. We serve those at parties all the time. |
Baking them yourself is SO easy! It'll take one evening. And the best price around Other than that, I would do a grocery store.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not looking to bake cupcake myself. I think the costco cupcakes taste great, but they're far too big. I'm looking for regular sized cupcakes.
I'll have to check Giant, HT and Eastern Market! |
| We just had Safeway cupcakes for our family birthday dinner for our daughter. Got them from Safeway. They were delish - sadly much better than the fancy ones we bought from a bakery for her party. |
| Harries Teether or Wegmans. |
| Giant. They also decorate with rings, etc. from popular kids TV and movies. The kids in my daughter's kindergarten love these -- better than fancy ones. |
| Safeway |
These are actually pretty good, an exception to the general rule that WF baked goods suck. |
| Another vote for Wegmans. They have the best grocery store cakes and cupcakes. The birthday cake with the real fresh fruit filling is the best. Nothing like bitting in fresh strawberries, blueberries and blackberries rather than some cornstarch filling. |
