The Post is covering this story now, too. Why am I posting here? Because Mr. Song with MCPS reported to parents last Monday that other schools have mold, too.
Please contact your school to find out if it has mold. Parents at Rolling Terrace have contacted school officials and to date, we have one written communication. We have not been told in writing which classrooms have mold. Also the dates in this article are wrong; mold was found Aug 21--a week before school started. Please help parents with sick kids by exerting pressure on the BofE (Barclay attended) and MCPS (Starr did not have decency to show), by asking officials which schools have mold, where, and what to do if their kids are sick. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/mold-in-montgomery-school-classrooms-sparks-health-concerns/2013/09/20/dea8157a-2237-11e3-b73c-aab60bf735d0_story.html |
I'm sure their next story will be a horrifying tale of how mold is ALL AROUND YOU!!!

Tune in to WJLA this afternoon to see report on another school with Mold. (PS Starr is in China for some reason.) |
This is disgusting. MCPS should HAVE to inform parents if there is mold at a school. Those of us with severely allergic or asthmatic kids NEED this information. Shame on them. |
I could not find this story on wjla. Did it run? Can PP post the link? Which school now?
MCPS parents: feel free to FOIA the email communications of your superintendent, BOE, and council members. The clock is ticking from Sept 6 when the RT principal disclosed there was a "mold issue." She did not specify date of first discovery or classroom numbers. As of 9/23/13 visible mold is still appearing at the school and kids are having respiratory problems. Even if you could care less about teachers and students at RTES, contact your own school and public officials about when they will take the health of kids seriously and stop pointing fingers. Any and all legal referrals are welcome here. |
