I've read through other threads, and noticed quite a few SLPs here. I'm looking to start a program next fall as a returning student, after graduating undergrad and working in an unrelated field since 2000.
Any thoughts on the different schools? I am closest to UMD, but am worried I won't get in, so I need some alternatives. Would rather not pay for private school, but will do whatever I have to do when the time comes. Towson is far - I'm 45 minutes to Baltimore without traffic, and have 2 very small kids at home. Any experience with the different local programs? Anything I should avoid if possible? What do I need to know? Thanks! |

Don't forget about Loyola. They have a campus in Columbia but you'd have to check to see if they hold their SLP courses there.

| Maryland is a wonderful program. I would do my best to go to them. |
| I was in a similar situation as you when I applied to grad school for SLP. I wanted to stay local and applied to UMD, GW and Loyola. Ended up going to UMD since it was the most economical and I was able to get funding through an assistantship. It is an excellent program and prepared me well for clinical practice. Good luck! |
| 22:14 here. I also considered Gallaudet, but didn't feel I had enough knowledge of ASL to feel comfortable there. But wanted to offer as another option. |
