She will never get better. No hope for her.

She is a Yale/Cambridge/Yale Law educated and accomplished lawyer married to her law school sweetheart who is wealthy/top lawyer/VC/senator/VP/author. She doesn't need to impress anyone with her wardrobe, hair or makeup.

I don’t think she needs to dazzle, but as she is the Second Lady, it seems reasonable for people to expect her to put some effort into her grooming and sartorial choices when she’s making public appearances on behalf of the administration. Mother Pence had a glow up as Second Lady. Hopefully Usha Vance will too.

I find her nonchalance refreshing in a made up women squad.

+1
Doesn’t bother me a bit.

I agree that I like that she tends simpler and less flashy. But that doesn’t explain some of the really odd choices like the clothes that are way too big or in really hideous colors for her. She seems to be doing better lately. Hopefully someone threw out all the taupe in her wardrobe.

The Good Friday service outfit actually made me wonder if she had not planned to attend that service, and then got there and JD said “what do you mean you aren’t going to the 2 hour Passion that will be mostly in Latin for a religion you don’t practice?” And she had to pull out the one dark colored dress she brought, which looked more like a casual visit to the coliseum dress.

Also, my friends, going to a fancy school and marrying a fancy guy doesn't mean you need to care about your appearance less. Just FYI. When you're in the public eye, you usually have to care more.

Do they not teach that at Yale? Amy Chua understands it. Seems like mentoring 101.

I went to YLS and they definitely don’t teach that! I’ so old I predate Amy but not her husband Jed who was there a couple years before her.

I think it’s a weird flex- I’m so accomplished, I don’t need to look good.

I just think the uncontested existence of this thread is so distasteful. I mean, these people are not ordinary, harmless celebrities whose worst crime is an ugly bikini bottom or tacky shoes.

These people are, as we speak, orchestrating and facilitating tremendous evil and injustice in our world, destroying lives and futures and our democracy. The existence of the thread somehow minimizes the sheer evil of these people's actions. That's what I think, anyway.

Then don’t read it! Not everything needs to be some high brow discussion. Jesus Christ. We’re allowed to have a little fun making fun of shitty people.

No one is “gushing” over them the way another poster said yesterday. Occasionally we will say someone looks nice but in case you haven’t noticed we are literally so mean to Usha she sends someone here to do her bidding and defend her.

You really think Usha reads your little posts and cares so much that she "sends someone here to do her bidding and defend her"? That is just crazy.

They usually get deleted but there is someone who will defend her, and only her, over the most minor things. Like someone will comment I think Kimberly Guilfoyle is a hideous beast and this person goes on a ten post rampage because someone said they liked Usha’s sweater but it would be better in a different color.

Referring to the son of a crackhead who has had so many dads he changed his name when he got married as "a fancy guy" is wild lmfao.

I'm sorry but this is a terrible outfit - those shoes are so unflattering, the shirt is too tight and looks absurd with that flitty skirt. And her hair looks terrible.

Agreed. Next time can we request JD takes Ivanka with him? She knows how to dress the part! Usha could have borrowed her outfit from the Ambani wedding?!

There is a fine line between nonchalant and sloppy.

Everyone should be able to draw their own boundaries without giving a second thought to Botox Barbie squad's demands.

I have literally never had Botox and I don't think Usha needs it. I still think she looks sloppy.

At risk of sounding like a clueless white woman, I wonder why she didn't choose to wear more Indian outfits? When she stepped off the plane in Solani (Indian-British designer) I was hopeful she would lean into theme dressing for the week. Even in that pic, she's dressed like the world's most mediocre midlevel bank manager and the interviewer is in a sari, so a sari wouldn't have been inappropriate.

I think because inside, she feels like a tiny, blonde WASPy woman.

Why wouldn’t she wear an Indian-American designer, like Naeem Khan? She’s on an official visit representing the US. Kate Middleton is pretty good about repping British labels; Usha is not making a good case for 1st lady!

Eh, whatever. I am a U.S. born Indian and prefer long skirts to Indian clothes when I visit. My cousins, middle aged Indian woman, wear lots of western clothes. None of us feels like a tiny, blonde WASPy woman.

Maybe if there are more evening things? Do you know designers who make a more day time wear? I’d be interested myself.
