Does anyone have personal experience with Potomac Pediatrics, in Rockville? I've heard mixed opinions, positive and negative and am trying to figure it all out. I am currently 29 weeks, so want to figure this out within the next 6 weeks.
Any other doctors that anyone highly recommends in the Rockville/Gaithersburg area? Thank you! |
We've been going there for 18 months and I love them. I only see Dr. Potter and Dr. Glassman. I stay far away from Dr. Moss. I have never had a wait, EVER. The waiting room is never crowded or crazy busy. They seem to have their shit together behind the counter so everything runs smoothly. I am always pleased with them but that is just my experience. Will be bringing new baby to them as well. |
10:03 I feel the same way about Dr Moss. I have been with Potomac Peds for several years and have loved every doctor I have seen but her. If your don't mind sharing what problems did you run into? |
I have been with the practice for 8 years. I love Dr Glassman and Dr Kaplan. I would also stay away from Dr Moss. All the othere docs are great. Good Luck! |
Wow-I just coincidentally have never seen Dr Moss and I have gone to Dr Kaplan and Siegal and Glassman and Potter and one other that I forget-who was very sweet so I would never go to anyone except those which is still alot to choose from. As a first time Mom I was happy with them from day 1. I met with Dr Kaplan when I was pregnant and she made me feel very taken care of (that they would take care of my child) I love that I can call in the middle of the night to ask even a question that might not be major and know that since they have a hospital set up to take calls from a triage nurse that I'm not waking or bothering an on-call dr to ask something that could be so minor! ( of course if you need to reach the dr you can but that is so good for piece of mind!) |
Thanks nice to hear about calling in the middle of the night, that was actually one of the complaints I had heard. I've heard it's hard with their limited office hours and that, in case of emergency, all they do is send you to the emergency room. .... Sounds like people have had different experiences? |
10:03 here, Dr. Moss has misdiagnosed my son twice. She couldn't see in his ears so she had the nurse flush them to remove a tiny piece of wax. This caused double problems. I am sure another dr could have done the same but they didn't. I feel like she is not as experienced as the other doctors. She makes me nervous. I have no doubt she has the same education but I really prefer seeing the doctors I feel comfortable with and she is not one of them. |
Yeah that isn't true. They go out of their way to make sure that parents have a place to get immediate medical advice 24/7. I have never heard of another practice that does that and trust me-for a first time mom when something goes wrong you don't have to agonize if your question is important enough to bother someone. I have talked to Janice too (the nurse in the office that calls people back when you have a question during regular hours) on the weekend and she was just as happy to help me on a Sunday as she was every other time I've spoken to her. I highly recommend this practice!!!!!!!! |
Here's my vent about Dr Moss. She always seems flustered and doesn't seem knowledgable. She asked another doctor about what to do for diaper rash which seemed odd since this is probably a common complaint.
When DS#2 was around 6 months old, he had a fever and was pulling on his ear, so I took him in in case it was an ear infection. He of course responded to tylenol and didn't have a fever when we went in. She said he looked fine and probably didn't have an ear infection. When I asked what we should do if he started getting worse she recommended going to the ER and they would do blood cultures and spinal taps..WTF!! I have 3 kids and have never had a doctor go down this road. DS #1 had a cold and was slightly wheezing. He didn't respond to the first neb treatment in the doctors office but he also had kept knocking off the mask. She came back and said we could try it again. If he didn't sound clear though she would send us "over next door" to the ER. She said it wasn't serious but he may need a few neb treatments and I couldn't use up one of their exam rooms for this. I was ready to call in another doctor but he responded fine to the neb. Thank goodness when I brought him back the next day I saw a different doctor who said he was fine, just keep on the medication for 5 days. The ED is great for a real emergency not as an extension of your office. Depending on the ED, they pull out the stops with many painful interventions and tests because guess what you declared an emergency by going there. If you go there for a routine issue that your doctor should be able to handle you rightly have to wait forever because they are treating real trauma cases. I just couldn't believe she would send us to the ER rather than let us stay in the office for a few more treatments. She really scares me and we will not see her anymore. Its difficult because she is the doctor who always has open appointments. Everyone else is great. |
I always ask who is available when I schedule any appointments. No Moss for us. She does seem flustered and I never feel ok with her. |
Just noticed the magnet on my fridge from PP and her name wasn't on it-maybe she left the practice? |
Nope, she hasn't left. She is brand new. |
oh! ok- |
