6-month old very fussy and will not calm down to take a nap

My 6-month old became very fussy and hard to calm down almost immediately after turning 6 months. He complains about something old day long on and off, and its almost impossible to get him to take a nap. His nap schedule is very strange, not the same every day, and I thought at about this age it should become more predictable.
I am wondering is this teehing? How to be sure if that is what is causing a discomfort? For naps also, what is the activity time at this age? 2 hours? or more? It used to be 2 hours, but now it became very hard to tell when he is tired and I am worried that I am missing the window when i should put him down, and he becomes overtired.
For unconsolable fussiniess, is there anything else at this age that might be causing the fussiness?

Nothing helpful, just wanted to commiserate. I feel like my 6 month old has this chronic, low-grade fuss/whine that lasts all day. Can't figure it out for the life of me -- he's at his best in the early afternoons right now. Sometimes I give him Tylenol but it doesn't really appear to be helping. His napping is also off -- sometimes he'll go down for a nap within 1.5 hours of waking from another one, which seems really unusual to me.

it's probably teething. Give him some tylenol and see if it helps.

Sounds like classic overtiredness.
