Washington - Lee is the best high school in Arlington, it has proving itself where it counts.

National Merit Semifinalists Announced — Eighteen Arlington Public Schools students have earned the honor of being named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. The semifinalists include 4 students from H-B Woodlawn, 9 students from Washington-Lee, 2 students from Yorktown and 3 students who are attending Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. BTW, I am not a W-L parent. I am just tired of some of the snobbiness from the other school.

Oh goodie!

How does this indicate that W-L is the best high school in Arlington?

If you disdain this alleged snobbery, why would you engage in the same sort of behavior?

Uh....thanks for stirring up shit on behalf of W-L?

Because the other schools shot down anyone who daren't say their school is better because of 1-3% higher test scores and their 'Greatschools' number, always touting their 8 point score over W-L's 5. The schools in Arlington are all great, some people just need to accept that.

Wow - none at all from Wakefield? Maybe we should spend our energy trying to improve the whole county rather than focusing on a pissing contest.

W-L and Yorktown generally have a good number of National Merit Semifinalists every year. And the past few years both schools have had Finalists. There is no surprise here.

W-L also had more acceptances to top colleges/universities than Yorktown, Woodlawn and McLean HS as shown in the latest Arlington magazine.

Hope that benefits Wakefield when the W-L neighborhoods get redistricted there in a few years.

That's really not news. There are a lot of highly motivated kids in the Arlington schools, although the concentration seems to be at W-L, Yorktown and H-B Woodlawn.

I don't think many directly surrounding the school need to worry. My kids walk there.

This reminds me of the fable about two guys fishing off a bridge. They each need to take a leak, so they're standing there, urinating. The first man says, "water's cold." The second man replies, "I know! Deep, too."

FYI - TJ is in Fairfax County

The students may be residents of Arlington Co. though.

You need to incorporate a chimp flinging shit to make the joke truly apt.
