Women OB/GYN (Schaffel & Sanders)

Anonymous
I am a patient at this practice, currently pregnant with #2 and finding it very difficult to make appointments. THey only have ONE opening for the entire month of December where they can take me for my first OB appointment. Has anyone had this trouble with them lately? I like them, but am thinking about switching if it's going to be this difficult for then next nine months.

I just delivered with them and found that as long as I was scheduling about 3 weeks out, it would be fine. Changing appointments at the last minute (if something comes up, etc.) is nigh impossible, however. Knowing that it can be hard to schedule appointments on short notice, I made all my 34-week-on ones in one fell swoop. Prior to that, I would simply schedule the next one month's appointment each time I was there. I know the first appointment is a longer one than usual, so there may only be a few slots available. After that one, I think you should be fine. FWIW, I felt very, very well cared for during my pregnancy and delivery and would not want to switch.

They always fit me in if I had an issue. They see a lot of professional women and are usually very accomodating. Just call and ask to speak to Dr. Sanders (or schaffel) or tell her your issue. I also know that they both respond to email very quickly. The reason that they do not do insurance is so that they can see their patients and not have overscheduling issues.

I am also a patient at the practice and have been very happy with the care I have gotten from both doctors. I think they were recently voted Top Doctors in Washingtonian Magazine so I think they're busier than they were when I first became a patient. Personally, I have found them to be quite responsive to email between visits and hope to have my next child with them.
