Not sure what will still be open. But heading there for a few days in Oct. Is the beach deserted or are people still hanging out? Is it a ghost town, or actully a great time of year to be there.
Thanks. |
| If you mean Ocean City, MD it can be quite nice in October and many places are still open. You can go to Seacrets for a decent meal withe kids (assuming you have kids) and even sit outside if the weather is nice. There's the boardwalk, couple of small amusement parks, mini golf, etc. You can also drive out to Assateague and try to see some wild horses. |

| Shops on the Boardwalk will be open weekends, indoor golf is available, |

In the fall, they tend of have special events, like car shows or some type of festival.
One time, they had a car show...so many different cars, from monster to classic cars. Celtic festival, wine/beer festival. Certainly nothing that involves swimming in the water. They do have some cruising thing. http://www.ocean-city.com/ocean-city-maryland-events ENJOY! |
| Hang out in your hotel's indoor pool. Walk on the beach at Assateague, canoe in back bay, find an open go kart place. |
| We go every Oct. Honestly, it depends. We have gone in the water some years! It's not a ghost town, but it is less crowded than the summer. But most years we just play in the sand or fly kites in our jeans. We also hit some of the indoor events. You do have to check for fishing tournaments. Sometimes there are trucks and fishing events on the beach. |
| Will the govt shutdown affect in any way Ocean City. We plan to be there this weekend. |

My child's fave trip to OC was in October in the rain no less!
We stayed at the Hilton with the cheaper rate and enjoyed the indoor pool. Outside the hotel we walked on the beach - the water was warmer than I anticipated, went to indoor mini golf, walked the boardwalk, went out for ice cream. It wasn't crowded but it was by no means empty. |
| PP, how did you like the Hilton? Where else do folks like to stay in Ocean City ? |
| What's a good place for breakfast that will still be open today (October)? |
| Bayside skillet!!! |
| How is parking this time of year. |
| Best seafood in OC? |
| My grandparents retired there. We would go there in off season all the time. The dinosaur mini-golf place is open all year round, as are the go-karts and most of the stuff on the boardwalk, most of the restaurants, the movie theatre, etc. Also going on some of those nature hikes on Assateague is really nice in the fall. |
