My brother is in the creative field in NYC and has an interview for a manager level position with a conservative and recognizable clothing brand (think Lacoste, Brooks Bros). Typically on an interview he would wear a tie but he's a hipster (as are many in the field) so it would be a little more funky and artsy. Would something like this be a red flag at the company? Keep in mind it's a creative job. Should he find a way to wear the company's clothing on the interview?
Thanks for your advice! |

Can you give us a link to the kind of tie you're talking about? I think it should be ok as long as it's not too out there.
I think it couldn't hurt to wear something of the company's on the interview; the tie would be a quick-and-easy way to accomplish that. |
| Tell him to look at the pics in the Ask Andy About Clothes Trad forum. If what he's planning on looks anything like them, he probably good to go. |
