Interview q: Creative Job at Traditional Clothier

Anonymous
My brother is in the creative field in NYC and has an interview for a manager level position with a conservative and recognizable clothing brand (think Lacoste, Brooks Bros). Typically on an interview he would wear a tie but he's a hipster (as are many in the field) so it would be a little more funky and artsy. Would something like this be a red flag at the company? Keep in mind it's a creative job. Should he find a way to wear the company's clothing on the interview?

Thanks for your advice!

Can you give us a link to the kind of tie you're talking about? I think it should be ok as long as it's not too out there.

I think it couldn't hurt to wear something of the company's on the interview; the tie would be a quick-and-easy way to accomplish that.

Tell him to look at the pics in the Ask Andy About Clothes Trad forum. If what he's planning on looks anything like them, he probably good to go.
