No more parent-teacher conferences

At Back-to-School night, we learned there will no longer be parent-teacher conferences at our school. Is this new practice widespread in Montgomery County?

For what level, is this ES?

Surprising.
We were not told this at our Elementary school BTS Night.

I already think it's ridiculous to only have ONE conference - how are you supposed to be kept abreast of your child's progress? Of course, I know I can schedule conferences any time, but still... MCPS should show its commitment to keeping parents part of the educational team by having 2 official parent conferences per year.

And don't get me started on the inane and completely uninformative report card...

Which school is this?

At the back-to-school nights at our two MCPS elementary schools, there were sign-up sheets for the parent-teacher conferences.

If you want another conference, then schedule another conference.

You can have a parent teacher conferece any time you want -- call the school and set one up. I think it's ridiculous and unproductive to have them all at the same time.

Its not true for all MCPS - atleast not for our Elem School. We signed up for the conference in Nov.

We signed up as well.

We signed up.

The MCPS calendar still has 1/2 days for conferences so I am wondering how a school can justify not having them...

We signed up, too.

I think that the school is not telling you the truth.
