Just how prevalent is this oxy addiction thing among our young adults in top privates?

It is in EVERY school. Don't you get it? Even your kid's school. Yes. Don't believe me--
Call the principal and ask for a meeting to get their perspective on the issue.

Maryland is even requiring Narcan to be stocked in school nurses' offices now.

Anyone else think we should just let the people OD? What is the point of bringing someone back from an OD when they will just turn around and go get high as soon as they can.

No, I don't think we should let other people's children OD. WTF.

Agree. Really? A child could overdose on the first time out given the growing spread of fentanyl. There is a cure and PP doesn't want to use it? Moral hazard is a great academic topic but is PP really up for combating it with dead bodies of teens?

Something is wrong with you if you think we should just let kids OD in school.

I wish someone had been there to revive my cousin with Narcan. She just went to bed and and never woke up. She mattered to her family.

I agree we need to try and save people who are overdosing but I really wish they could be sterilized after a couple overdoses. These babies born hooked on opioids is heart wrenching, not to mention all the kids that go to foster care because their parents are using heroin.

I'm so sorry, PP.

Thank you. She was waiting for a bed at a treatment facility which was supposed to be available in three days. Her family is shattered. The detectives believe the heroin was laced with fentanyl. Never in a million years could I imagine this would happen to her. She had a huge heart and sadly she tried heroin.

Not everyone brought back from an OD will go right back to using & not everybody who struggles with a drug addiction fails to contribute anything positive to society. Some brought back from an OD will be able to successfully use the experience as a wake up call to get (& remain) clean. Some will start using again but will get (& remain) clean at some point in the future. Still others will never acheive lasting sobriety but will nonetheless make beneficial contributions to society that wouldn't have been possible if they had been left to die.

I definitely do not think we should do that.

We live ina society where both parents are just too busy. I think it is better if one parent stays home when the kids are teens. This is the most crucial time. Working when the kids are little is fine if you have good help. They need you so much more as teens. If someone cannot be home then drive them to school and know all their friends and keep tabs on what they are doing. Be interested in their lives.

This. Most parents certainly think they know their children, but they really don't have a clue.

I think one parent at home is worth EVERY bit of the financial sacrifice. Children require care that is stable, competent and loving. Very few nannies or daycare workers will love your child the way you do.

Think about it.

Why can't one work part time, while the kids are in school?
