On January 7, 2021, a United States Capitol Police (USCP) officer, Brian Sicknick, died after suffering two strokes the day after he responded to the attack on the U.S. Capitol during which he was assaulted with pepper spray[2][3] by two rioters.[4] His cremated remains were laid in honor in the Capitol Rotunda on February 2, 2021, before they were buried with full honors at Arlington National Cemetery.[5]

Within a day of his death, the U.S. Capitol Police and the U.S. Justice Department announced that his death was due to injuries from the attack.[6][7][8] For several weeks, several media sources incorrectly reported Sicknick had died after being struck in the head with a fire extinguisher during the unrest, citing two "anonymous law enforcement officials" as their source.[9][10][11] Months later, however, the Washington, D.C. medical examiner reported that Sicknick had died as a result of two strokes, classifying his death as due to natural causes,[a] but later commented that "all that transpired played a role in his condition".[9][4][13] The ruling was criticized by some expert neurologists, who argued that stress resulting from the insurrection at the Capitol may have caused the stroke.[14] The medical examiner found no evidence that Sicknick had an allergic reaction to the pepper spray.[9]

Sicknick's death was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch, the USCP, and the FBI.[7] On March 14, Julian Khater and George Tanios were arrested for assaulting Sicknick with a chemical spray.[15] On January 28, 2023, Khater was sentenced to almost seven years in prison for assaulting an officer with a chemical irritant.[4][16][17][18] The assailant was given a presidential pardon on January 20, 2025, by Donald Trump.[19]

I can’t imagine the seething rage the Capitol Hill Police must have right now, watching Republicans parade these traitors around the Capitol as heroes. Frankly, I’d start shooting the bastards

You have to remember most of the Capitol police stayed away that day. Only the minority or “libs” officers worked that day. The rest are like the Secret Service - hardcore maga who supported the coup.

Trump’s traitorous pardons of violent criminals who tried to take down our country should not be forgotten. It should be stickied so short-attention-span Americans can’t forget.

They can still be charges with

Federal laws for rioting
18 U.S. Code § 2101
This law prohibits acts of violence that further a riot, as well as aiding or abetting others who participate in a riot. The penalty is up to five years in prison and/or a fine.
Federal Anti-Riot Act
This law makes it a felony to travel between states or use interstate commerce to incite a riot, participate in a riot, or commit violence in furtherance of a riot. The penalty is up to five years in prison.
Other federal laws related to violence against the government
18 U.S. Code § 2383: This law prohibits rebellion or insurrection against the U.S. government. The penalty is up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and ineligibility for federal public office.

This is a pretty easy charge to make stick. 15 years and $250k.

True to his authoritarian nature, Trump is literally erasing evidence of the Capitol rioter’s crimes. That’s right folks—it didn’t happen, despite what we all saw with our own eyes.

Trump Wipes Evidence of Capitol Rioters’ Crimes
“As President Donald Trump this week sought to rewrite the history of his supporters’ attack on the US Capitol, a database detailing the vast array of criminal charges and successful convictions of January 6 rioters was removed from the Department of Justice’s website,” CNN reports.

“The searchable database served as an easily accessible and up-to-date repository of all January 6, 2021, cases prosecuted by the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.”

And you think Trump's DOJ is going to do that?

A recent WSJ poll of voters conducted before Trump released the Jan 6 criminals found, among other things, that:

His promise to pardon people convicted in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol drew opposition from 57% of voters.

That’s right: almost 60 percent OPPOSED the pardon.

This is exactly what he wrongly accuses Liz Cheney of doing. Accusation —> Projection is undefeated.

That is nonsense. If people were opposed to what went on on January 6th and opposed to pardoning these thugs they would not have voted for Trump and yet they did. This country wants these thugs running around free.

I feel like there will be more. They exhibited anti-social behavior and complete disregard for law and order. There will be more and I’m sure a few will go out like the Pizzagate Shooter.

Many of these men are domestic abusers, including the head of the Oath Keepers.

+1 it's almost like Dump freed them so his fighters are out for him....his own trashy militia. Good times

Hitler did the same for his Brown Shirts when they were arrested. Next up Trump will purge the Republicans of disloyal or capable people.

Yup....can't have good people standing in your criminal way.
