[One of those protocols included a safety measure adopted just one week ago.

“All of our teachers are armed with a form of an ID called Centegix,”

Centegix alerts law enforcement “after buttons are pressed on an ID and it alerts us that there is an active situation at the school for whatever reason and that was pressed.”

Centegix’s website says the tool has “dynamic digital mapping, real-time locating capabilities, an easy-to-use wearable panic button for school and district staff, a school visitor management system, and safe reunification capabilities enable educators to plan for and respond faster to emergencies.”

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced that a 14-year-old, 15-year-old and 16-year-old, all from Bethesda, have been arrested for a strong arm-robbery that occurred at the Tobacco and More Mart in Bethesda last week.

According to MCPD, “At approximately 9:34 a.m., on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, 2nd District officers responded to the 7800 block of Old Georgetown Road for the report of a robbery.

The preliminary investigation by detectives has revealed that the three suspects entered the business, took property and attempted to leave the scene. When an employee attempted to intervene, the 16-year-old suspect struck the victim in the head. The three teenagers then left the scene with the stolen property.

Shortly after, officers from the 2nd District located the three teen suspects matching the description provided. The suspects were quickly apprehended and taken into custody without incident.

All three juvenile suspects were charged with robbery and released to their primary caregivers.”

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has announced that four teens—a 13-year-old, a 14-year-old, a 17-year-old, all from Silver Spring, and a 15-year-old from Prince George’s County—have been arrested for an armed carjacking on Bethesda Avenue, where the 17-year-old displayed a gun and demanded the victim’s car keys, resulting in their apprehension following a traffic stop on Wisconsin Avenue.

Per MCPD: “The preliminary investigation has revealed that on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at approximately 9:21 p.m., the teen suspects, wearing all black with face masks, approached the victim, who was inside their vehicle in the 4800 block of Bethesda Avenue. The 17-year-old suspect displayed a gun and demanded the victim’s car keys and property. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands. The teens then left the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

The vehicle was observed on Wisconsin Avenue and Stanford Street, by an off-duty officer. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the teens stopped and attempted to flee from the stolen vehicle. All four teens were located in the area and quickly apprehended.

The 13 and 15-year-old were transported to the Cheltenham Detention Center.
