Dangerous schools and overburdened teachers don’t make sense. |
Exactly. |
Not a mass email— an email about your kid, specifically. |
+1 Sounds like a lot of the dunces here on this forum who will insist kids don't need grammar or spelling instruction anymore (because spell check! ![]() |
It’s not equitable to teach spelling and grammar, or to read novels. It’s also not equitable to provide graded homework. It’s not equitable to remove disruptive kids with behavior issues and it’s not equitable to separate children by performance level. It’s not equitable to go on field trips that may cost anything to the parent, even a few bucks. It’s not equitable punish children who behave poorly. I feel we are really close to realizing perfection. Everyone will soon be able to watch the baseball game. ![]() |

I don’t think you understand what FAPE is. You “normal” kid is getting it. My AAP kid is getting it. The bozo kid down the block is getting it. All FAPE means is access. It doesn’t mean taught in a way that’s acceptable to you, in a classroom full of kids acceptable to you. I think a lot of you will never be satisfied. |
DP. A good education, teaching the fundamentals with rigor and with feedback, is a reasonable expectation of a good school system. Arguing about FAPE is more evidence that there are problems in gen ed. |
When I came to the US, ESL classes were separate (the core classes). I remember being insulted at the stuff I was learning in these core classes but within a few weeks, they placed me in regular classes for everything but English. Eventually I ended up in GT. I ended up where I needed to be. I know it doesn’t always happen that way. But placing kids who barely know English into gen Ed is not beneficial to anyone involved. |
No. They were happy to do it. One even offered. The other we asked. These teachers regularly keep up with my kids. Also, they left FCPS and are no longer teachers but you know what I mean. |
Emails and phone calls. I won't reveal the pyramid but it's not the typical desirable ones. |

And that's fine. But every teacher is not you. |
What a weird post. I have 2 kids with ADHD. One in AAP since 3rd and now in 8th. One was in AAP since 3rd bit is now a junior taking 5 AP classes this year. Please don't act like kids with ADHD ruin it for your little Larla. |
Shut up. This teacher has every right to be fed-up. |
