Rides to and From Madison High School for student That Do Not Have Bus Service

We recently moved to Vienna. Our child was supposed to go to Marshall but wanted AP classes so she is attending Madison. We live almost the same distance between both schools. It is 2 miles to Madison from our house and we are looking for a ride home for our child in the afternoon since there is no bus service to our home from Madison. Are there any parents having the same issue? I've searched but found no resources for rides. My child is a freshman and has not made friends with any older students with cars that drive to school. If there is someone that has the same situation and can offer a ride there are one to two days per week that I could drive also.

It might help if you mention the neighborhood. For example, I think there are a fair number of kids in the Dunn Loring Woods and Stonewall Manor areas in 22180 zoned for Thoreau and Marshall who end up pupil placing to Madison, since Thoreau is mostly a feeder to Madison. You might also check with the PTA since those folks tend to know lots of families.

Could your high school student bike the two miles?

I agree with biking for now while the weather is still good and checking with the PTA for long term solution.

There is a public bus that runs along Maple Street. I think there are several lines actually. Check WMATA and Fairfax Connector bus schedules.

Sorry, I meant Maple Ave. Route 123.
