Is short commute worth uncertainty

Working for an agency with massive budget cuts but short commute from home and good boss. However, lots of uncertainty.

I have the opportunity to move to another agency with a lot of opportunities but 1 to 1.5 hours commute coming home. 2 days telework.

Trying to make a decision on what to do.

Are you absolutely sure you can telecommute two days a week?

As a government staffer or as a contractor? No one is talking RIFs yet, so if you are a govvie, go with the job you want. If you're a contractor, go with the surer deal.

Does the new agency not have any possible pending cuts? As the newbie there, you may be more likely to be RIFed, if this happens.

It all depends on the agency. It's a weird time right now.
