Recommendation of ped. in NoVA

Anonymous
Has anyone any recommendation of pediatricians in Reston, Great Falls or Vienna? I'm looking for a doc who would provide me with her/his cell ph. number so I could easily reach her/him on weekdays and weekends. I don't want to go through operators and assistants making me waste time and get more anxious when my baby needs immediate attention or I have very important questions. Thanks!
Maybe I should post in Parenting discussion, but I'm an expectant mom.

Do doctors actually give their cell phone numbers out? I've never heard of that. I'm not trying to sound snippy, but your expectations seem a little unrealistic.

My expectations are not unrealistic. We have a gastroenterologist in DC who provided his cell ph. nr and told us to call him whenever we have a very important question and consider to see him immediately.

OP here again. The above post was from me.

good luck finding a good quality doctor who will be willing to provide their cell number. I am a psychologist and would NEVER give my cell phone number to any patient even I thought they would not be high maintenance. If you find one, let me know.

to PP: You actually would think of ANY patient as "high maintenance". Perhaps you are in the wrong business. My psychiatrist gives out his cell #.

Huh! The unrealistic psychologist who doesn't care much about their patients. With such a economic crisis and so many people needing help, why don't you change your career!!

OP here. If you don't have any recommendation or nothing else to do other than calling me unrealistic, please don't post and that's all.

17:34 "mental health provider": what information did you provide that was useful? i have spent too much time going to psychologists who make everything all about themselves. you ARE in the wrong business.

Is this sock puppeting? b/c this is totally unreal and pointless. It IS unusual for doctors to give out their cell#s. That's why they pay to have answering services and have on call arrangements. Someone is bored...

PP here - glad I didn't come sooner and leave my GREAT ped.'s # before I saw how rude you are for apparently no reason! My kids' ped. or whoever is on call answers pages w/in 15 mins. everytime and has for the last 7 years. I'm happy not to inflict you on her.

agree! OP, also, why do you believe you need the pediatrician's phone number. Are you not confident that you can function without it??

Having a pager is completely different than a pediatrician giving out their cell phone

Advanced Pediatrics in Vienna is very good although I'm not sure if they'll give out cell phone numbers which is a ridiculous request. Some doctors there do use email. The "assistants" in their office are pediatric nurses who are often times well qualified to answer your questions.
