I bought some filet from Costco last week. The sell by date was sept 12. How is that possible? Most of the cuts said the 6th but I dug deep and found some fresher cuts.
I cooked some that night, froze some, and cubed up the rest and put in the fridge to marinate. It's been about a week. They are 1 inch cubes or so, tightly packaged in a ziplock in the fridge. (I haven't marinated yet). They aren't as bright red as they were when I purchased. Definitely grayed a bit. Still good? |
| I wouldn't eat it. The sell by date is only good if you keep the package sealed. I am assuming you are talking about the beef tenderloins in the cryovac packaging? |
| Ok, thanks. Yes, that's the one. I would never think to keep meat that long from the grocery store and the dates are never that far out. Must be the packaging. |
