deceased parents and pictures

Anonymous
My parents died, two years ago. I have all our childhood pictures at my home. Most are in albums. NO idea what to do with them because I have 2 siblings and need a fair way to split them up?

I could scan them but have no clue how to do that.

Any suggestions?

Buy a scanner and start. You can figure it out as you go (it was easier than I anticipated). Then you can upload the pictures to something like Shutterfly and create some albums for everyone. Good luck!

If I do that, will the pictures be good quality? Or will the quality decrease?

OP here.
Here is what I am planning:

Pictures that are just of me and my wedding, kids, my events--I will keep.

I will give my siblings pictures of their events.

Pictures that are of all of us, our childhood etc. those I will scan.

What do you think??

That sounds like a great plan.

OP again, I know it's an old thread. I still have these pictures in my closet. Any other ideas?

You can send them to a service and they can make cd's, dvd's, etc. research that.

I think there are services that will scan them for you if you don't see yourself ever getting around to it.

I'd let your siblings come over and sort through their own events and take them away.

We are estranged from one sibling now, unfortunately. I have all the pictures. But I can have them sent to her.

All the albums from our childhood we kept intact and they went to one of my brothers. My husband scanned many of the photos for me before I gave the album to my brother. It seemed to make more sense to keep it all together and I can view them at his house if I want to. I never do, honestly. I picture my parents in my head. Looking at the pictures is still too much for me. Are your siblings asking about this? If not, maybe just keep it all together and make sure they understand that you're willing to split it up when/if they're ready.

OP here again, I think the service is a great idea. My BIL is great at scanning too....he offered a while ago.

No my siblings are not asking, the photos have been sitting in my closet since 2011. My sibs would be happy to have the Pics stay at my house.

Did you remove the pictures to scan them? Obviously yes???
