I imagine they've been equally vague about their lives prior to meeting him, and misdirected him when he got close to the truth.

I worked with someone that turned out to be living a double life and even just a coworker doing that blew my mind and left me confused and angry. I cannot imagine finding out my spouse wasn't who they say they are. I see they've stopped feeding the cycle with new information for people to analyze so maybe this will die down and he can do some reflection. She does seem otherwise harmless, and her flaws are similar to his flaws, so hopefully this doesn't damage their family.

My cousins ex-husband faked a Jamaican accent for years when they first met and lied about being Jamaican. My cousin didn't find out what a fraud he was until she spoke with his ex-wife. Once confronted, the accent disappeared. However, he continued deceptive behaviors such as lying to coworkers and friends about what he did for a living, level of education etc. He was a fraud to the bone so while he dropped the Jamaican routine, he found other ways to hide who he was.

Lying about who you are has to be linked to shame in who you are.

And it obviously shows that you’re comfortable lying about big things so when does it end? Someone who lies about their entire heritage/culture/identity for over a decade doesnt just stop lying about other things once their biggest lie is exposed.

This reminds me of the Salahis - the "White House party crashers" that were staged for reality tv. They ended up getting divorced when it turned out he had no money, no surprise. She had changed her name from Michelle, and went after the only celebrity she knew, now they are married. Fakes, all of them.

Ooh. What sort of double life?

I won't go into huge specifics but he talked to me everyday about his life, and it was 100% BS. Then he killed himself, and since I was his manager I found out, the the course of interacting with his next of kin, that it was all lies. This was particularly concerning because of the sensitive nature of his job, but thankfully he didn't do anything he shouldn't have in that realm apart from lie constantly about his personal circumstances and activities.

I think this is why I couch all my responses on this thread with some degree of empathy for H and A. H's lies about Spain are inconsequential in the larger sense, but have the potential to shatter everything and I don't want her to do anything truly dumb and irreversible.

Oh, that is very sad. There is clearly something that troubles HB to make her commit to sincerely to this. But she has the money and connections to figure it out and even serve as an example to others. Many don’t, and can’t. She has five young children she needs to think about. She needs to be honest for herself and for them.

I'm guessing CAA has PR people on staff. But if the Baldwins are lying to CAA as well, they can't really execute a strategy. That's probably why they took H's page down. They need to think about their own credibility at this point.
