Driving from Philly to DC on a Friday night?

when are you leaving? traffic will most likely be an absolute nightmare. the metro section of sunday's paper had a great alternate route map - check it out

Would need to know what time you are leaving-I do this drive all the time. I am sure you already have this but..make sure you have ez pass since that makes the ride through tolls 100% easier-if you don't and can't get one in time, try to borrow someone's for the weekend. FYI-once past the tolls, the real nightmare is the DC beltway on a Friday--hopefully you are avoiding DC Friday afternoon traffic.

The plan is to leave Philly at about 5pm on a Friday. I do have EZ-Pass.

OP adding -- leaving at 5pm *this* Friday, to be precise (as in, the one before Thanksgiving!)

Totally doable. Slow in places. I always think of this drive as about three hours.

But remember OP -- there will be a lot more people on the road since they will want to take the whole week off.

take 895 around baltimore. always less traffic there and more direct than 95.
