and you were still living in your house while selling it, how much of his/her advice did you follow?
Our agent sent a stager in today, and she recommended removing our china cabinet....it's just not something we can move on our own and I'd planned on having movers move it again, but obviously not until we are ready to move. She also hated our family room furniture (lol) because it's an overstuffed extra long sofa (what can I say, my H is 6'6") and an overstuffed love seat. If we remove these like she suggested and move in one of our formal love seats from the formal living room, I a.) will have NOWHERE I am willing to have my 2 year old sit (the love seats are white) and I also can't fathom sitting there with my H in the only room that has a tv for any longer than a night or two! The rest I'm more than happy to do and generally agree with. |
| i generally think it's worth doing what they suggest. In general, overstuffed furniture and big pieces make your house look smaller. So i'd do it. Sucking it up for a couple months worth it if it sells for more. |

I agree with PP. It might be annoying, but an extra cabinet and oversized furniture make your house look small.
Obviously, it's up to you, but it definitely makes a visual difference. |
| I think it depends on your house. If its a tiny room with huge furniture, some people may not see it as that way. We bought ours and they had dirty laundry out, overstuffed everything, dogs in the backyard, three dinette sets, a garage you could barely navigate. We are people that can look beyond all the crap and see the house bones but not everyone is like that. |
+1 We took out 1/3rd of our furniture all around the house and it felt so spacious and looked great. Not super functional, but it sold quickly so it was worth it. |
| Yes, definitely listen to the agent on staging. We spent days getting our place ready to list and show - even spending $100 on fresh flowers. Sold in 24 hours. |
| I also think you should listen to stagers - it can make a world of difference. Then again, I am from the bay area where everyone stages... |
