Anyone ever decorated the underside of a top bunk? We just got our DD bunk beds and have discovered how ugly the view is from the bottom bunk if you're looking up at the underside of the top one. I'm thinking maybe a large piece of wood cut to fit and covered with fabric, or lights, or chalkboard paint. Thoughts/suggestions/ideas?
Thanks in advance. |
Your ideas sound good. |
Eh, I'd leave it. Adding fabric etc will just increase allergies and fire hazard |
Think Ikea has decorations for the ceiling for kids. You could probably find some that fit under the top bed. |
I'd avoid anything chalk-y since a bed full of chalk dust would not be so much fun in the long run. |
Ooh... I love the idea! So many options!![]() |

I built my kids a bunk, so the view from the bottom is just plywood. Not that editing right now, but would be easy enough to decorate - spray paint it blue with white clouds, or black widths some stars, etc. |
Isnt she usually sleeping when she is laying there? I wouldnt want anything that stimulates. |
We had a mural of us painted on the underside of the top bunk so that we can even hover over our children while they are sleeping. |
I wouldn't put wood in case it fell. I took a poster board and covered it with family photos featuring the kid on the lower bunk. Big hit. |
Decoupage! |
Us too. With the words, "We're watching you!" ![]() |
When I was a kid, I had movie posters under the top bunk. They were lined in hard plastic frames and placed face down underneath the mattress. Most craft stores have a pretty large selection of posters, you could go with any theme. |
OP here, thanks for the ideas! |
