Did anyone develop eczema while pregnant? I've never had it before, but a raised itchy rash has developed on my hand (top of hand). It seems to have originated from dry skin ... washing my hands so much because of all those extra trips to the ladies room ... but it won't go away. Is this normal? Did anyone else experience this? Can I use a bit of cortisone creme? Calamine lotion? My next appointment isn't for a month ... should I be more concerned and let my doctor know now? Thanks in advance! |
I didn't have while pregnant, but developed some right after giving birth and it still comes and goes. My DD is 2, and I'm newly pg with #2 and have noticed more flare ups lately. I think it's hormonal. |
I am not pregnant, but I do have recurrent eczema and I can tell you this about eczema:
- water makes your skin dry and eczema comes when your skin is dry so avoid washing your hands too frequently - also get a moisturizing cream (I recommend "Cetaphil" (recommended by my Dr. and works great)) and put it on after you shower/have contact with water - there is a special prescription cream for eczema that you can get but I don't know if it's safe during pregnancy, I get it from my dermatologist - cold makes eczema worst so wear gloves I hope this helps. |
I had it when I was pregnant and I saw a dermatologist. He gave me a prescription for something safe during pregnancy. There are many topical creams which are not ok during pregnancy, I think some steriod creams present a problem, so check with your dr before you use anything. You can also call your OB and they usually have a nurse or someone who can answer questions over the phone about what creams are ok. Good luck! |

Thanks everyone. So far it has remained just on my hands and I haven't used any creams (just body lotion). I will ask about pregnacy approved prescrips. at my next appointment. Thanks Again! |
