North Arlington Day Care Recommendations for Infants

Anonymous
I recently found out I was pregnant and am beginning to put our names on wait lists at some day cares in the area. I don't want to waste money on places that aren't going to be any good though. I'm currently looking at First Baptist Church of Clarendon CDC and FDIC Bright Horizons in Va Square. Anyone have any feedback on either of these? Are there other places you would recommend? Thanks so much!

NSF/CCLC in Ballston has good recommendations as well so I'd schedule a visit there, though I think you'd barely make it off the year+ waitlist without Fed priority (working for Feds or military etc). Not sure if that applies to you.

Have you considered in-home day care as well? There are some well-liked in-homes in N Arl if you search through old threads on this board.

Thanks! I do have Fed priority so that helps. I plan on looking at in-home daycares as well but I know it's too early for that. I read that you shouldn't start looking at those until you are 5 or 6 months from needing care. Is that on-par with what others experienced?

Also still looking for experiences with FDIC, First Baptist Church, or with NSF since that's been recommended. All of the previous threads are fairly old and I know a lot can change!

We just finished five years at First Baptist. We loved it. In the past year or so they tightened up the program. Very little turnover of teachers, good curriculum. Every adult in the school knows every child's name. The food is decent and the infant coordinator watches everything that goes on - no putting anything over on Ms. Julie.

I am just about to start my second child in the infant room at First Baptist. Love the teachers and know that my son will be well cared for.

I don't have any experiences with First Baptist, but I will say that I've been on the waiting list since April 2012, and still have not gotten a spot for my now 19-month old! So be prepared for a long wait.

New bright horizons daycare center is opening in Arlington, VA.

OP here- There is a BH opening in Rosslyn, but wow they are expensive- about $200 more a month than FDIC in VA Square.

Thanks for all of the replies! Keep them coming! Any experiences at FDIC or NSF?
