We did the Mercer Building Thinking Skills workbook this summer. Any good resources for actual practice tests for the FAT?

There are none. It is a test of intelligence not knowledge. The reason they stopped the Cogat is because too many parents "prepared" there children for it.

Not true. Mercer now sells a FxAT test prep book.

I guess that FCPS is going to have to develop yet another test. Perhaps they can call it the NoScamAT.

I have even seen Mercer advertisements on this website. Someone should let JSteele know, that he is aiding and abetting cheeters by allowing those paid advertisements to be displayed here.

Warning don't click on the link below if you don't want to be accused of CHEETING...

Here is the thing: If you are not willing to tell the school that your kid practiced, then I think you know it is wrong.

Somebody's always trying to sell these books to insecure parents.

Really, save your money. Use it instead for gas or Metro to go downtown and spend time at any of the Smithsonian Museums. They are free and there is so much there that will enhance your child's education in a way that books of standardized test questions never will.

Cheat is spelled as CHEAT, not CHEET. Please learn to spell!

I don't have enough time to sit down and teach but I would like to hire someone

Not particularly prep for FxAT, but for general GT/AAP, Best Academy in Springfield provides evening classes.

To those who deny there are preppers... see above. Ridiculous.

How do you know it is cheating? Have you read a single thing somewhere that says it will be cheating if you look at, read, practice, this this or this?

Yes. FCPS developed the FXAT because children were found with the exact form of the cogat (whatever that means). If they thought that was ok, they would not have gone through the trouble to develop their own test.

I thought a big part is FCPS used to use 98% of national CogAT before, and that result in too big a pool. The FxAT is normalized in FCPS only, so they can control the size of the pool.
