Happy Tart in Del Ray

I am not affiliated with them in any way, but we just enjoyed a fantastic birthday cake (gluten free and dairy free) from the Happy Tart in Del Ray. We were a little skeptical, because frankly a layer cake without gluten or dairy doesn't sound like it would be that great, but it was delicious. One of our children has some food sensitivities and it was pretty awesome to have a cake that everyone could enjoy. And it was beautiful to look at, too! I definitely recommend checking them out if you've got someone who needs to stay off the gluten - they could not have been nicer and they do very fine work. The GF DF chocolate chip cookies are also very tasty.

We've had cookies and cakes slices from there. Some of the best GF products we've tasted. Also no affiliation.

Would you recommend for someone without allergies? Is it just "good for GF" or "so good I would recommend to anyone"? I don't generally like commercial baking so I'm always interested in finding something new and Del Ray is close to home.

I have no allergies and often get tarts there. The owner is a trained French pastry chef who has incorporated GF into traditional technique. Pretty magnifique, at least by my standards.

The pastries from there are really good.

I bought some terrific goodies there during the year I was dairy and soy free. I highly recommend them. The pecan snowball was my favorite indulgence.
