FCPS transportation. Are the bus schedules usually sent in late?

Anonymous
I received a letter with no bus route, so I assume she didn't make the cut to receive transportation. I called today and they told me she would have a bus, but they didn't have all the info yet. Is this how it usually works?

Odd. We haven't even received our bus route letter. Very odd!

I think we usually get it by Open House.

This. 1 or 2 weeks before school. It's a security issue I was told, but then with the open house announcement I got on Sunday they inserted the bus route anyway.

Does it work differently for kindergarten students?

We got ours on Friday.

We usually called in late August and asked what our pick-up time would be. Lots of moving parts in our family so we had to get that naield down early

Have had kids in four different Fairfax elementary schools over the years. Some schools mail it out a week or two before school starts. Others you have to get it at Open House, just a few days before school starts. Then be prepared for a lot of craziness and a lot of time spent waiting at bus stops once school starts and they work on ironing out the routes.

I know it is hard, but think about it from the other perspective. The school does not know the full enrollment until august. People move. New people move in, people switch to private. The county does not want over crowded buses or empty buses. So, they wait until they have the data. Then, they can optimize the bus routes.

As a parent, usually 8:40 at corner A or 8:45 at corner B does not make a huge difference. In general, if you need to plan, you can assume it will be roughly the same place and time as last year. It might change a little, but that change is small. If you don't know, ask your neighbors.

I received a letter which said read attached bus route, which said not routed, so I assumed she wasn't getting a bus.
When I called transportation, I was given her bus stop and times. Will the school receive the info as well?
