Does the all day birth class at Sibley really take "all day" and last until 6?????

Yes. There is a lunch break and a tour of the hospital at the end.

...but it still feels really long and exhausting.

I did the all day class. If I remember correctly, it did not actually last until 6 -- we got out a bit earlier than that. Maybe 4:30 or 5. But it still was most of the day.

We got out earlier as well. And it really wasn't that bad. We actually enjoyed it. Neither my husband nor I had read much prior to going to the class, so it was all new information to us. We liked it... and we were dreading it.

We went to a 2-day class at GW, which was good - long, but useful info. You don't have to take the class at the hospital where you are delivering (we didn't), so if it is really stressing you out, maybe you can look for another one-day class that better fits your schedule.

We got out early (between 4:30 - 4:45). It's long, but I'm not sure what the instructor could have removed from the program to make it go faster. There was a lot to cover. Although I know some people say to just skip the class, I found it useful. I think our instructor's name was Carol - she did a good job at keeping us on track. Although I've read up on everything pregnancy related, I was surprised to realize how much my husband did not know. That, alone, would have been reason enough to take the class.

If you have done any reading or prep, I would suggest signing up for just the tour. We took the all-day class after doing the Bradley method 12 week class and there was nothing new in the Sibley class. Still, I HIGHLY recommend taking the tour.
