Crib shopping headache - help!

Anonymous
Can you recommend your crib or crib brand? I've read Baby Bargains, old threads here, and have shopped at Great Beginnings, but still cannot make a final selection. Pali, Ragazzai, others?? Don't want to spend more than $600.

Open to convertible or drop-side, but don't want to buy a crib made in China. But looks like avoiding Asia altogether is difficult for that price-point. Thank you!

Pali was a great crib and made in Italy. It was around $450 about 4 years ago.
I really liked the crib.
Are you open to used?

We ordered ours from Natart, which is a Canadian company and the cribs are made in Canada. We got the crib that converts into a full-size bed, and that was $760, so the non-convertible is likely less. (We didn't realize there was a 10-14 week lead time for getting our furniture delivered, so be sure to factor that in!) Good luck!

Munire crib--Urban style from Great Beginnings. I think it was $700? I love it. It is the nicest piece of furniture we own (sad but true) but it is getting lots of use.

I second the Pali recommendation. They are all made in Italy. Ours was a bit more expensive than PP's, just about $600, bought a year and a half ago at Great Beginnings. They are beautiful and work well too.

Actually, Pali is now slowly but surely moving its product line to Asian production. When we were shopping for cribs in June, several of their simpler (lower price point) cribs were already being made in Italy.

I second the vote for Munire. We have the Urban too and love it. One warning though - it is a large piece of furniture. I think it was only about $600 actually, and Great Beginnings accepts Buy Buy Baby coupons. We used one of the BBB 20% off coupons for our glider and saved over $100.

We have a very simple Pali made a few years ago that we bought used. I like it fine--it suits our tastes, etc. But I don't understand what all the fuss is about. It doesn't seem like such a "high-end" brand to me...

We also used Baby Bargains. We ended up buying the "Lollipop crib" by AP Industries at Buy Buy Baby. It's a really basic white crib. It's perfect. I wasn't into the huge cribs, sleighs cribs, or really expensive cribs. We also had a 20% off coupon... sign up on the Buy Buy Baby website. It was a great deal. Very, very happy with it.
I usually buy furniture at Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, so if that's your style you may like it. It dresses up nicely with cute bedding.

we will be going with Munire Bristol. Either ordering from Great Beginings or Baby2Teen in Manassas

Our crib is a Baby's Dream infinity convertible from Baby-2-Teen in Manassas. Think it was about $350 in 2004. I know when we were shopping that was one of the brands that Baby Bargains didn't like, but that was really because of one particular style that the company made at the time where there is a hinged top panel that folds down instead of a drop side (not sure if the recommendation or the cribs have changed.)

When we moved a couple of years ago one of the "legs" of the crib was damaged and I called the company and was able to order a replacement part, no problem. Not sure if they're made in the US or not, but I bet you could call and ask.
