Stuff people say on DCUM...

Anonymous
There a number of DCUM phrases that just make me cringe. I can't take it. They're not funny or cute or hip or witty, and people need to stop trying to make them happen. These two especially grate on my nerves:

"Larla" -- We get it. Your taste in children's names is far, far superior to everyone else's taste. You do not need to demonstrate it by referring to every other child by this name. You can stop using it. It's not funny. It's self-referential to a thread that wasn't funny in the first place.

"the poors" -- Bad grammer doesn't improve snotty, inaccurate references to a huge socio-economic class that is extremely diverse. You are demonstrating your ignorance, not your wit.

What are yours?

I don't care for the many abbreviations. It's not hard to type out "husband", "wife", "son", daughter", etc.

Husband & Father

snarky - OMG this word makes me want to vomit. It's cheesy. spare me. find a real word.

walkable - I already don't like you. You are the type of person that I cannot stand.

the district - It's "DC" or "downtown"!!!!!! Get it right if you want to live here.

Washington - like state? on the west coast? Again, its "DC" or "downtown"!!!

You do realize that people use "Larla" as a placeholder name, like DCUM's version of "Jane Doe"

but what really bothers me is the constant use of "entitled". It's like people don't know what it means and use it as the default term to any behavior they dont like

People that can't spell, and then will quickly say it's a typo (it's clearly not), or point out that they are not writing a thesis.

Grammar.

Stop whinging.

I get tired of people posting the same post, every couple of months, asking which phrases are annoying on DCUM. We get it, you don't like larla, snowflake, abbreviations, big law, etc.

Everyone says they are:

thin: naturally though, the baby weight MELTED off at 10 days
very good looking and youthful: ppl CONSTANTLY comment that they are 25 but they are actually 48
upper middle class but struggling: only make 340k a year but between house payment, preschool tuition and annual pledges, and more IVF things are TIGHT.

I've lived in the District for 24 years, and I've always called it The District.

"Downtown" is Farragut/K Street.

"You do realize".

Such condensation in three itty bitty words. But I'll admit I've used it.

Ok, I butchered condescension. OOPS. In my defense, spell check butchered it.
