We were in a small pvt school in another city before and we decided to make the lunches homemade food this year as we moved here and to good public schools. What stays best for lunch hour? TIA.

I packed lunches for my kids through their senior years in high school. Why would you try to make another mom feel bad for packing her kids' lunches? Some of you really need to stop and ask yourselves why you are so damn snarky. Of course we know our kids could pack their own lunches. Sometimes we do things for others because WANT to, not because we have to.

To answer the question- my kids loved it when I packed leftovers from the night before! They also liked sandwiches, pizza, bagels with peanut butter or cream cheese, fruit, hummus and pita....... And of courses, something sweet!

I pack all kinds of things. I break her lunch bag into components.

Main meal

Turkey sandwiches

Left over mac 'n' cheese

Taco meat and tortilla chips

Tuna sandwiches

Sides

Carrots

Cut up apples in lemon and orange juice

Broccoli

Cauliflower

Clementines

Snacks (usually eaten in her classroom)

Hummus & pita

Greek yogurt

Veggies & ranch dip made with greek yogurt

Drinks

Boxed organic milk

Water

** I am trying to introduce some new foods to lunch. I would love to pack hardboiled eggs since I could make and peel a few at a time. I would love to include soup since I can pack so many things in soup -- no dice with the soup. She just isn't a fan.

And I intend to pack my children's lunches through college

I always find these kind of threads so unpleasant, there should be a separate forum entitled, "How to Be a Good Parent Like Me."
