Who buys peeled onions?

Can someone explain to me who buys the peeled onions they sell at the grocery store? I never thought peeling an onion was that difficult.

I never knew this was a thing!

I have a condition that reduces the dexterity in my fingers so peeled onions help a lot.

OP here--we don't live in the DC area anymore and I don't remember if they had them in the supermarkets there, but Safeway and our other large grocery store both sell red and yellow onions already peeled. They look pretty and shiny, and cost more, but I don't get it.

Sorry PP, we posted at the same time. It just seems that usually you cut the onions anyway for most recipes and the outer layers are pretty easy to remove.

I buy the chopped, peeled frozen ones.

I HATE peeling and chopping onions...one of my least favorite cooking chores. I recently discovered that they sell frozen chopped onions at Harris Teeter! They work perfectly in cooked recipes and nothing goes to waste if I only need a small amount.

You're narrow-minded, OP. Think more broadly. Have some empathy.

I cannot close the fingers enough to get the skin alone. Or else, I waste most of the onion trying.
