I have an interview for my dream job tomorrow. Problem is, I haven't worn my only suit in years, and found today that it has mildew damage from being in the back of a storage closet. So, I need a new suit, today.
Needs to be reasonably priced since the job would not usually require a suit (under $200), classic but updated, dark color (black, gray or dark brown). I wear a size 10 and am 5'10". Help!! Thanks! |
| Jos A Bank. Trust me, they will take care of you. |
| I would try TJMaxx for women. |
| The Limited. It's mostly suits and business attire, and in your price range. |
OP here. I'm a woman, just to clarify.

And the shoe repair place has a tailor that can shorten the pants and jacket the same day if need be. Might be $30 for both. |
| The Limited, Ann Taylor or Macy's. I think the shoe repair's tailor is pretty good - used to go there but it was too much hassle to take everything to the mall. |

Ann Taylor or The Limited. However, I think Ann Taylor is sure to have what you need and in your size (you may even be able to buy a 6 or 8 there due to the annoying vanity sizing!). It's not a top-notch suit but will be perfect for what you need it for.
Also, Macys might work. |
| Benetton maybe? |

Ann Taylor will be more than $200. I just went there for the first time in 5+ years looking for the same (suit for an interview) and jackets alone were all $150 and up. Ended up buying a blazer on sale for $130. Also, sizing is not larger than jcrew (my usual store for casual wear) or gap or any of the other mall stores. I found I wore a 6 at AT and a 6 at J Crew.
I'd try Macy's first. Most likely to find something there. |
| Macy's and Lord & Taylor. |
Yes, this is my second pick (to the Limited) |
| Lord and Taylor and Macy's. |

I was just in a similar situation and had luck at Macy's...found a very nice Calvin Klein jacket for $89 (paired with a pencil skirt from the Loft...I did not have to be super formal...confirmed when I went to interview yesterday and everyone was wearing jeans!).
Check Macy's online...find one you like, enter size and zip code to locate stores where they have that one in stock. Real time saver! |
| I was recently in the same predicament and wound up finding a Calvin Klein suit for $70 at Burlington Coat Factory in Bailey's Crossroads. They had a TON. I was shocked, as I had never set foot in there before and had no idea it would be a good resource for work clothes. I would at least run by TJ Maxx and Marshalls in Tysons if you can - they also carry Calvin Klein suits. No need to pay $200 if you don't have to. |
