when do you move from highchair to table?

Wonder when i should move my DS from his highchair. He is 27 months old. He likely won't sit still at the table, but should we use his booster seat as an interim step?
Thanks!

We made the switch at 25 months. We did not even think about it but our daughter just refused to sit in the high chair and wanted to sit at the table because she saw us doing it. Is there a specific reason why you want to move him? What does he want to do?

My son is 18 months and we switch between a booster and highchair. He does like to stand up in the booster after eating, but we put him down after that. I think as long as he isn't tipping over onto the floor, you can try the booster and see how it goes. My son likes being like his big sister in a real chair.

hi DD is 9 months and is already using the booster on a chair at the table. seems to work for us so I think there is no limit.

We made the switch at about 19/20 months. DS was trying to get out of the highchair. He is much better behaved at the table and seems to eat better. The biggest plus is not having to wipe down and clean the high chair.

We made the switch around 14 months. He seemed ready and we were ready to get the High Chair out of the kitchen! We do have to use a booster with a belt... make sure you look for the belt when you are buying

I have been wondering the same thing for my 16-month old, and I think for us we'll make the move to a booster at the table once he more reliably eats off a plate/bowl without picking up and throwing it or flipping it.

At 22 months, my son just climbed right into a chair at the table....he decided he wouldn't use a high chair anymore. So we set up a booster seat with a belt and that's where he sits. I use the belt to keep him in place, otherwise he wants to get out of his chair in the middle of the meal. It's working and he's happier in the booster.
