Takoma Park Home Safe? (E of Piney on Ritchie)

Anonymous
What do you know of the Ritchie Ave neighborhood - East of Piney Branch, North of Philadelphia, and Northwest of the Maple Ave Apt area? We have a toddler and am currently expecting another. Is it a safe area? Can you walk on that side of Ritchie with a toddler after sunset and feel safe?

Thanks for any input!!

Absolutely safe. Tons of families out and about in the evenings. Welcome to the neighborhood!

If you are looking for safety then you are fine. I would be worried about the area across New Hampshire. Considering the tax rate is so high for TPK, unless I was zoned for TPK Elementary School, I wouln't move there.

If you are going to pay the same high tax rate as those that are zoned for TPKES, then you might was well move to that section of TPK. Otherwise, for the money, you could get in the nicer areas of Silver Spring with a better elementary.

Yet another DCUM "authority" on Takoma Park who doesn't know what they are talking about. I live east of NH and our entire neighborhood is zoned for TPES.

And Ritchie Ave is also zoned for TPES so I'm not sure of the relevance of PP's comment
