We are considering to go with Home Depot's rapid installation for carpet. They explained to us that from the day they measure, they can install within 72 hours. The carpet option is limited with this special service, but we have found several options we really like. Have you had anyone had good/bad experiences with this particular service/installation? Any hidden fees after getting quotes? Please share your stories----since we are about to spend a lot of $ to replace carpet in the entire house. Thanks! |
We used HD for our carpet install - they subcontract it out, our particular sub was awesome and did a great job. There was a minor issue that cropped up a couple of days later and they came right back out and fixed it.
Overall I'm not sure how traditional flooring companies stay in business. No hidden costs in the process. If it's above $5,000 consider shopping between HD stores and find the one willing to give you the best price - they do compete against each other for high dollar jobs. |
This is encouraging to hear. Thanks. Did the carpet get installed within 72 hours from the day you received the final quote for the exact measurements? |
Not for us, but we didn't go with the rapid install program. I have no reason to doubt they could do that though - it's just a matter of having it in stock. On the crew that worked on our house, only one spoke english, but they worked incredibly hard all day to get it done, and left the area very clean. I was impressed, will never go outside of HD unless we need/want something specialized. |
Home Depots rapid install is a joke. They don't tell you that they will install seven "business" days from the time you pay. You can't pay until they send someone out to measure. In our case that took three days and it was on a Friday. So, the way their system works, you can't pay until Monday. Then they have seven business days to install. So, I our case it was 14 days, not seven days. It's a hoax and a joke!!!!! |
Make sure you have a sample of the carpet and check it when they come! Our HD installers showed up with the wrong carpet (though very close) and then tried to convince us it was the right one. We were only doing a small area. Still don't know if I believe if was an honest mistake, of if it was a remnant that they wanted to use - maybe they were getting a price break. |
Not thrilled with Rapid Install. I paid 11 days ago and am just getting carpet in today. Also, the subcontractor they are using is horrible. Late, no communication, "lost my paperwork". Would never use again. |
Great job by flooring contractor. Installed within 7 business days from when they received the order. Professional, fast and accurate. |
Getting flooring installed by them is a real gamble as it is all done by external contractors and Home Depot makes sure they are not responsible for the quality of the install.
I was lucky in that the person that was supposed to come do the measurements never showed up (also a contractor). Home Depot wouldn't return my calls or let me know what was up until 6 PM that day when the appointment was at 10 AM (I had taken the day off from work to be home for this idiot to show up). Apparently the woman quit with no notice so they decided to just lose the business of anyone with appointments scheduled with her as it was easier than trying to reschedule! After that, I swore off using any of their installers. |
Same thing happened to us. Delayed getting the new carpet by another 3 days. So frustrating. They did give us a discount for it though. Oh, and our subcontractor dropped a deuce in our toilet that day too. Yuck. |
