Prince Charles summoned a psychiatrist for her as soon as they returned from the honeymoon. She spoke of her psychiatrist and asking him about Harry as a child. How can you be unaware? She threw herself down stairs when pregnant with William. She called people dozens of time in a day. Maybe you were born after she died or something but she was unstable with excellent mental health treatment, regular exercise, etc.

Borderline is a specific diagnosis— and one that I wouldn’t throw around lightly or without justification. Summoning a psychiatrist for her given what Charles put her through suggests more about him then it does about her.

It was widely spoken of at the time. You may want to do a bit of reading. Disruption of primary attachments traumatizes kids, of course adults who do so may be unstable themselves. Nature + little nuture > instability. All before the marriage.

This is way, way out in left field. A potential failed pregnancy, miscarriage or other complication could very well explain why they said "abdominal surgery".
