NORWOOD SCHOOL INVITES YOU TO ITS FIRST OPEN HOUSE OF THE SEASON
Norwood School, founded in 1952, is a coeducational independent day school emphasizing academics, the arts, physical education, communication and character. The school is located on 40 beautiful acres just outside the beltway at 8821 River Road on the border between Bethesda and Potomac. Learn more about the academically challenging and diverse offerings at this fall’s first Open House on Thursday, November 13th from 7-8:30pm. At this event, you will be able to chat with teachers, students, parents, and administrators as well as take a tour of the school. If you cannot come to this Open House, others will be held on Thursday, December 4th from 9-11am and Saturday, January 10th from 1-3pm. Appointments may also be made for small group tours of the lower (K-4) or middle (5-8) school on most Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays by calling 301-841-2130. For more information about Norwood School, visit www.norwoodschool.org. |
| Look everyone, applications down at Norwood. Is it a sign? |
| Actually, the Head of School sent an e-mail to current parents a few weeks ago in which he mentioned that both inquiries and applications were up this year over last. |
Get a life. |

It's not just Norwood that's down. At a private school consultant forum, it was said that many schools visits are down, but the new administration kids would fill spots. It's a strange place advertise an open house for an "elite" school the day before an event, considering the snarkiness of this board.
|
| Maybe what is strange is the snarkiness of this board. You can't assume that someone who is posting this information on behalf of the school in what would look like the place to do it - the private/independent school forum - would spend enough time surfing on here to know what this community is actually like. |
Please. Almost every anonymous community board has an...edge, shall we say. In fact, this one is a pleasure cruise compared to others that I've read. The admissions department dropped the ball on this one. |
| There are lots of posts here from journalists, medical research groups, tutors and so on. It was not an unreasonable post. They (schools) advertise in the Parent Magazine, this is called DC Urban Moms an Dads, so it makes sense. |
| Bump. |
| Norwood's entire admission staff have private-school-aged kids. Don't be flakey. They are all on this board here too. |
| I strongly suggest looking at the school. IMHO, it is the best thing going for a private school in the DC area. My daughter LOVES the school. |
| We just wondered why the admission staff decided to post a cheap ad--that's all. |
Because they are smart. It saves money, if they keep that mentality, tuition stays lower. |
| Yeah, okay. Thanks Admin. |
