Flooring for finished basement

Anonymous
We're finishing the rest of our partially finished basement. Right now, half the basement is finished as a large playroom with a nice Berber carpet. We are finishing the rest as a bedroom, storage room, and art room. We are matching the carpet for the bedroom, but my husband doesnt want carpet in the other two areas. Any suggestions for a durable type of flooring that won't look too cheap but won't break the bank?

You might look at vinyl plank laminate flooring (floating floor) -- e.g. the Allure vinyl planks (sell at Home Depot).

If you do that, go for the higher quality one (click on allure ultra or similar). Make sure your floor is flat.

Honed ceramic tile. Looks more upscale than laminate flooring.

Was your floor perfectly flat? If not, have the seams stayed closed?

Porcelain tile. We use area rugs on it.
