When do holiday party invites start arriving?

I got a christmas party invite yesterday for Dec 7th. Seems awfully anxious to me but I guess there are a lot of parties and if you want everyone to come to yours' first...

I have a policy, at least for my kids' birthday parties, invitations should go out no further out than 2 weeks max. before a party. It just looks too desperate. I can see how maybe for Christmas parties one might want to send them out with more advance notice.... ???

I dont think it is desperate at all. People need to plan for sitters or have other obligations. If you wait too long - you might not have any guests show up! I mail out one month ahead of time.

I send mine so they arrive three weeks before the date of the party.
