Anyone ever been? Is there anything to do? Just asking because we have the option to stay somewhere there for free, but I don't know if it's worth it. Would mostly need activities for 2 early elementary kids.
Thanks! |

It is boring, almost like a ghost town. The big amusement park is closed, it rains often, and the ocean water is freezing cold. Add a whipping winter wind and it really isn't much fun at all.
If you want solitude then by all means go there. Most likely, you will end up sitting inside reading or watching TV, something you could have done in your own home. Should you happen to get a break in the weather, you might get to take your children hunting for seashells on the beach, and they could still build sand castles. But all the big attractions like Putt-Putt golf, amusement park, and Ripley's Believe It or Not, will be closed. I'm not sure about Ripley's but I think it closes during the winter. Best thing to do is use the internet and see what's available. There could be hidden gem things to do but I am quite certain most of the touristy stuff that kids find fun will be closed. |
Thanks - I figured as much but wanted to get confirmation.

Depends. My cousin lets me use her house near mb in the winter and I love it because it is a beautiful oceanfront place. I love sitting in the house looking at the waves and sometimes it is warm enough for walks.
If it is some tacky condo nowhere near the ocean, prob not worth it |
| I spent a week there in the winter staying on the beach and loved it. There were a lot of Canadians staying at the same hotel - same suite was hundreds cheaper than when I had stayed earlier on in the summer. The real cool thing is that we would ketch tons of fish at same spot that we swam at in August....be warned, it's boring and not much to do...lol |
