Get a cat.

Agree with PP. I live in a row of townhouses. They have ALL had mice except the two where there are cats. Just know that it is all structural-- try have to be coming in somewhere and they only need a quarter inch to squeeze through. Check behind appliances and spray foam around pipes.

I had mice in my condo. Talked to coworkers, everyone had a mouse story. Get some traps, I got some at Giant. Problem solved.

OP here. They creep me out so much. I will try to check out holes and get some traps. I can consider getting a cat. Is this worth the hassle of having a pet? I don't know. How can I not be so scared of them and the anticipation of them?

Whole foods has pure peppermint oil. Pour a couple drops on cotton balls and throw them around your house. Mice had the smell of peppermint.

Snap traps. I have about six of them and need to put them out about once a year. Usually it only takes a couple nights to get 'em.

Or a snake.

I feel for you...btdt and yes on the creepy factor.

We ended up getting an exterminator service who will do it all...bugs, termites, rodents, bats!

Get a good exterminator. Then get a cat.

We had mice when we bought our house. We adopted a cat. Within a week, she had killed four mice and scared the rest away. And now she is our kids' best friend.

We had cats growing up but still had mice. OP, don't get a cat unless you really want one and will provide a loving home for it. They are more than possible exterminators.

I have had mice before in other homes and probably will again (now in a townhouse). I tried to eliminate them with traps and the population grew. I then poisioned them(as I had in the past) 3 days later - no mice and its been a year.

We got an exterminator who blocked exterior entry.

Get a cat if you want one but they don't necessarily solve rodent problems. We had cats growing up that would just watch a mouse run right by them. Having said that, I've lived in and around big cities with my cats for 10 years now and so far haven't had any rodents in the house. Fingers crossed they seem to be putting off the scent to stay away!

We get mice occasionally and we decided to use humane traps and release (in a park). I can't kill anything, not even a big wood spider. We also have a cat who is failry good hunter, she's caught a number of mice. But it was gross - she'd eat them and leave the face for us to find. I never found any blood, strange how that works.

Now, if it's a rat, I might be more inclined to kill but mice - nah, they go back outside.
